ElLas bodas en los pueblos mexicanos son acontecimientos familiares y comunitarios. Los preparativos empiezan con meses de anticipación convidando a los padrinos, de anillos, lazo, y arras. Actualmente estos artículos los pone la pareja y los entrega a los padrinos.
El vestido de la novia siempre lo paga el novio, y que no lo ve hasta el día de la boda. La fiesta con el pastel, música, comida, y las invitaciones las paga el padre de la novia.
Los regalos se acostumbra a llevarlos con anterioridad a la casa de los padres de uno de los novios. Es muy raro que se den en la fiesta de bodas. En las poblaciones pequeñas se acostumbra que todo el cortejo de los novios camine a la iglesia o es de más lujo si van en coche unas cuantas cuadras.
El banquete de bodas es casi siempre
una comida en el patio de la casa de uno de los novios que se
adorna con flores naturales blancas y con tiras de plástico
o papel picado. La iglesia se adorna con estas tiras de cuadros,
con cadenas con figuras de palomas o de corazones.
