Es la fiesta esperada por toda joven mexicana para celebrar este acontecimiento. Tanto en la ciudad como en los pueblos, se convida a una pareja amiga para que sean los padrinos de la quinceañera para la cermonia de la iglesia y de la fiesta. Ellos colaboran con los gastos y entre ambas familias se paga el vestido, la misa, y la fiesta.
Especialmente esta fiesta se celebra en los pueblos porque puede ser la última que pase la joven en su casa con sus padres y hermanos, antes de casarse (se casan muy jóvenes) y empiezan su vida de los adultos.
La fiesta se hace en un salón
grande, para poder bailar con su papá, hermanos, familiares,
y el chambelán, que casi siempre es el novio. Se baila
el vals con música de Strauss o de autores mexicanos como
Felipe Villanueva y Juventino Rosas. Bailan con ella 14 parejas
más representando cada año que ha vivido. El salón
esta adornado con tiras de cuadro con motivos de una quinceañera,
y en colores que combinan con su vestido, azul y blanco, verde
y blanco, rosa y azul, etc. Se adorna también con cadenas
y guirnaldas el salón y la iglesia, poniendo siempre flores
frescas.
This is the fiesta longed for by every young mexican woman to celebrate the 15th birthday. In the cities as well as in the towns, a couple is invited to be the padrinos or sponsors of the quinceañera for the church ceremony and the fiesta. They help the parents of the birthday girl with the expenses of the dress, the mass and the fiesta.
This fiesta is especially celebrated in the towns because it may be the last one celebrated by the young lady in the home of her parents and brothers before being married and beginning an adult life (where they marry very young).
The fiesta is held in a large hall where she can dance with her father, brothers, family and escort, who is usually her boyfriend. They dance to the music of Strauss or Mexican composers such as Felipe Villanueva and Juventino Rosas. The honored couple is joined in the dance by 14 other couples representing the years she has lived. This tradition has been lost somewhat. The hall is decorated with strings of squares with quinceañera themes, and in colors that match their dress, blue and white, pink and blue, green and white, etc. Also the decorations include chains and garlands in the hall and the church, always including fresh flowers.
