(John Cote is an independent piano technician not associated with Howard Piano Service who assumed the HPS customer base in New Mexico and Arizona in March, 2009. Dr. Howard moved to Kansas for his wife's health, and is pleased to introduce John Cote to the piano owners he has served for many years).

I have been tuning pianos since I was an older teenager, out of self-preservation... I was known as the kid with perfect pitch, consequently, having to listen to out-of-tune pianos has always been a somewhat painful experience for me (I actually have somewhere between relative and perfect pitch). I use the aural method, for a balanced, pleasing sound throughout the scale.

Additionally, I was part-time Pastoral Staff as the Music Minister (20 hours per week) for 17 1/2 years, consecutively, in a local church in So. Calif., preceded by 4 years in another church. I retired from AT&T after 30 years service, where I spent my entire career "fixing things" that others gave up on or otherwise could not fix, so it was terrific preparation and training for becoming a piano technician in my later years. I enjoy tackling difficult and some of those intermittent problem repairs.

I still maintain 500 pianos in Southern California during my monthly trips there to monitor rental properties. I moved to Vanderwagen to work at the Broken Arrow Bible Camp and to tune pianos. I work diligently toward excellence in service, developing and maintaining good relationships.

"Dr. Howard, I miss having you come out to tune my piano but I must say you couldn’t have found a better person to replace you. I’m very pleased with John’s tuning ability..." Cathy Vancik, Tse Bonito

Roy, Thanks for your note.  This is an exciting development that you are going to Ecuador. On Call Jazz is doing well.... We play at Sammy's and Angela's but not Ramone's.... The girls are all learning music and are thriving on homeschooling.  John Cote turned out to be a really good tuner. Jonathan Vilasier Iralu, MD
