Do I really make a difference?

My grandma often said, “Prevention is worth a pound of cure.” I think what she meant is “It is easier to pull one weed in the spring, then 10,000 weeds in the fall.” She would rather work at keeping weeds out, than try to get rid of them.

Mowing and hand cultivation can fix the problem for thistles and cockleburs. Make sure you sack the plant and flowers so that the seeds are not spread. Beware: Knapweed spreads when the land is dug up. It is best to smother Russian Knapweed with straw or other green waste. If you are not sure what kind of weed it is or what you should do call Evergreen Lawn & Garden, 505 870 4327

Because noxious weeds hurt and poison animals I need to stop these weeds from spreading.

I cannot stop the wind from blowing or water from flowing, but I can do some things to slow down the spread of noxious weed seeds.
When I buy crop seed I can make sure it is certified or clean weed-free seed.
When I buy hay I can make sure it is certified or clean weed-free hay.
Before I move my animals from one grazing area to another I will pen my animals for 96 hours or 4 days and feed them weed-seed-free feed and clean their coats. Weeds will not move with them.
I will drive on only on the roads. I will wash weeds and mud off my truck where the weeds cannot start to grow.

My actions will help stop these noxious weeds from spreading .
