Puncturevine
Zygophyllaceae
(Caltrop family)
Class C Weed

Puncturevines, sometimes called Bullheads or Goatheads because they look like horns, are annual weeds. Growing thickly together, puncturevines create dangerous spiny mats. They have hairy stems that are one-half to five inches long. Mature weeds have sharp, curving spines. The spiny burs damage wool and cause injury to livestock. These weeds, spread by animals and automobiles, can easily puncture bicycle tires.
